Rhode Island Rumble Tournament Information

Team Entry Fee:
$325 for 12 & 13 Club (2 -DAY Divisions)
$600 for all other Divisions
**Entry fees will be refunded up to 60 days prior to the first date of play.

Age Divisions:
Girls 12-18 Club
Girls 15-18 Open
   *Girls 12 & 13 Club will be 2-DAY EVENT.  Sat - Sun May, 23-24.  ALL other divisions will be 3-Days.

Division Formats:
All divisions will have formats designed to guarantee each team 5 matches or the equivalent number of sets in all 2-Day Divisions and 7 matches or the equivalent number of sets in all 3-Day Divisions.
**TEAMS MISSING ANY OFFICIATING ASSIGNMENT WILL BE PENALIZED ONE POINT PER MINUTE LATE, UP TO 25 POINTS, ON THEIR NEXT MATCH.

Match Length:
All matches will be best of 3 games to 25 with the deciding game, if necessary, to 15. An exception would be a 3-team pool without crossovers that will play 3 sets to 25, which is the equivalent of three best of 3 matches. There is no cap on any set!!!!

Awards:
In addition to individual medals for 1st-3rd in the Gold Bracket and 1st place in the Silver and Bronze brackets for each division, a
“Team Cup” will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Clubs with the most points earned in both Open and Club Divisions.

Team Check-in Details, Locations and Times: 
MANDATORY Online SportWrench Team Check-in will open approximately 1 week prior to the event.
Roster Requirements:  
​All Players age 18 before or DURING the event MUST have a current SafeSport Certification to be placed on a Roster.
All Team Bench Personnel (Coaches, Asst. Coaches, Team Rep/Mgrs) MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF the following:

  • a current USAV Membership
  • a current USAV Background Check
  • IMPACT Coaching Certification
  • a curent SafeSport Training Certification

Tie-breakers:
As in previous years, there will NOT be any tie-breaking games played in this event. In the case of a tie, the teams will be ranked by head-to-head results in case of a 2-way tie in matches or, in the case of 3 or more teams tied in matches: set percentage.  If two teams are still tied on set percentage, the tie will be broken by the head-to-head result of their match OR if three or more teams are still tied the tie will be broken by point percentage. Note that the 3 or more teams tied procedure is slightly different than previous years based on the updated procedures used at the USAV Junior National Qualifiers and National Championship events!

Host Hotel & Stay, Play, and Save Policy:
All teams participating in this event must stay in the host hotels.

Once a club has registered for the Tourament, you will be able to book hotel room for the Club/Team(s)

TEAM CHECK IN PROCESS (READ ALL DETAILS BELOW):

  • SportWrench Online Team Check in will open approximately 1 week prior to the event.  
  • COACHES OR CLUB DIRECTORS MUST complete Online Team Check in for their teams prior to tournament play.  Paper rosters will not be accepted. 
  • Upon completion of Online Team Check in each coach assigned as a "Primary" staff member will now receive a unique QR code pass via text/email for access to playing venue(s).  There is a MAXIMUM of 3 “Primary” staff members per team.  Any additional members will have to purchase passes online for entry into the event.
  • Each Primary staff member will need to present their QR code pass (printed or on a mobile device) with the corresponding photo ID to gain entry into the venue(s) AT ANY TIME. 
  • Athletes will need to show their jersey to gain entrance to the venues. 

ONSITE CHECK IN LOCATIONS AND TIMES:
No need for onsite check in! Coaches bring your unique QR code pass and corresponding ID to the door for each entry, players just need to be wearing uniform! 
NO MORE WRISTBANDS to keep track of!

Rules of Play:
The rules of play are as prescribed in the USA Volleyball Domestic Competition Regulations. (Note for the 2019-2020 season, the “Test” rules regarding what happens when an illegal player is found on the court will be in effect—see Rule Book for updated language. (DCR pg. 15).

Officials:
Paid 1st officials provided for all matches.

Protests:
If a protest is to be filed, it must be done at the time of the incident, NO LATER. 
The first referee is obligated to acknowledge and record all protests. 
ONLY THE FLOOR CAPTAIN MAY FILE PROTESTS. The exception to this rule applies to the 14U and younger divisions, where the acting team coach may act. 
All protests will be handled by the Protest Committee and their decision is binding. A Protest Committee will consist of any two of the following: Tournament Director, Assistant Tournament Director, Head Official, NERVA Board Member, National Official or a non-involved Club Director.

Facility Rules:

  • Due to incidents in previous years, there will be a NO TOLERANCE policy for misbehavior by players/teams and spectators in the venues.
  • Ball Handling is NOT allowed outside of the exhibit halls in the Convention Center. 
  • Coolers and outside food and drink are NOT ALLOWED in the playing facilities. Only water and sports drinks may be brought inside the gyms in those facilities. 
  • In order to comply with the fire marshal, NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED TO BRING THEIR OWN CHAIRS INTO THE CONVENTION CENTER. 
  • Violation of these policies or any other general misbehaviors may result in IMMEDIATE dismissal from the facility for the remainder of the day.

Athletic Trainers:
There will be a athletic trainers available to tape and assist with minor injuries and serve as a first responder to more serious injuries.  
Athletes must provide tape and pre-warp for any pre-existing needs.  Tape and pre-wrap are only provided by the tournament for emergency purposes.
